The Irineo Project plus the Mini Lantern Tote

For my dear friend I agreed to make some special knitted gifts for some special people in his life(I'm being elusive for obvious reasons). I picked patterns or made up patterns based on techniques I wanted to learn or challenge myself to perfect. I ended up with three awesome projects one is a spliced and manipulated pattern-the kitty hat, one made up by me after watching the basic technique of how to start-the true moebius cowl, and the other I made up while making it...also my first time attempting- flip top mittens. I'm proud of what I made, it got my creative craftster juices flowing and I have alot of cute ideas I'm making into patterns for the winter season.
On a side note I have crossed the point of no return as a knitter, well I think I jumped past that when I started knitting. I made a modified version of the bubble tote which I call my mini lantern tote and it fits a small project and ball of yarn nicely. It started out carrying my projects to and from work, then hooked on the back of my chair while I was working on the computer and waiting for stuff to load. Well I caught myself walking around the house with my mini tote on my arm knitting while doing other things. I think I have an addiction...and I'm loving it!!! Talk about finding the desires of your heart! Well here's the pictures of the projects!

Projects Update

So I have made progress on the log cabin blanket! Not as much as I would like but thats because I have been busy with orders coming in and working at my LYS. So its still good. I have some fun things I am working on for myself, the Que Sera cardigan from Knitty.com. Nonetheless I have hit my knitting threshold for the night and I need to sleep or I won't be able to function tomorrow and by function I mean knit my fingers off.

New Project: Knitted Log Cabin Blanket

I absolutely love this pattern! once you get the first square on this finished you just pick up stitches when you change colors! I love that this is a traditional quilt pattern that I have made before but I'm knitting it in some awesome American Primitive colors! Excited! I'll post my progress as I go. Here's my first picture of working on it.

Its been too long

I can't believe it's been so long since I posted last, I don't know if its because I'm out living life or I'm just lazy. I went on a road trip with the little sister, learned alot of things, went on a vacation with my husband, saw alot of things. Communed with nature more than once...what happens under the bridge stays under the bridge. With that being the shortest write up on what I did this summer, I will be keeping up here as the holiday season nears.. Posting pictures of new items, sales and such will hopefully be on frequently. Until then..

My first ball of Noro

So I broke down and bought my first ball of Noro, so excited! There was one hank of Furisode in colorway 8 and I couldn't resist. So I thought what could I do? I decided to make a hat. I manipulated a pattern and voila the hat you see. I really like making hats now. I'm inspired by the pattern I used that I think I would like to make up my own patterns for people to use, or at least make up my own patterns. People like hats in Florida. But that will probably be in the far future, I hope not though. Well I love my hat and thats all I know. I just hope that if I made hats that the people who bought them would love them as much as I loved making them.

Weedon Island

So I did two new things on Monday, kayaking and exploring a place called Weedon Island. Both were awesome. Weedon Island is basically a giant conglomeration of mangrove outcropping in the shallows of Tampa Bay. It's both magical and mysteriously eerie all at the same time. I saw so much beautiful wildlife and some odd ones as well. Heron, ibis, ducks, snook, redfish, and mullet. I'm pretty sure I saw an eel snap at me too, he was little though. They have these numbered signs so that you basically don't get lost in the numerous channels that course through the sea of mangrove trees. But they get sparse at times and you have to follow your own intuition, mine apparently works. The funny thing is at the end you see this giant open space and you thinking this is right next to the channel, where are my freakin' signs? Oh their about a quarter to a half mile away...and it goes on like that for a few miles. You start to wonder, am I ever going to get back to the boat docks? While contemplating this and staring into the water realizing it was getting deep to the point that I could no longer comfortably see the bottom, my dear terra, I hear a slap in the water not ten feet from me. I'm so startled I jumped a little, which is impressive when you are sitting in a kayak. I keep watch on the water and then a few seconds later I realize what the noise was, dolphins. It was a momma and her calf. The calf was being the playful one who was slapping the water with its tail. It was so amazing and I can't wait to go back. I was also inspired by the nature that was surrounding me so expect it to show in my work. For now here are some raw shots of the flora and fauna.
